No. 13 Rebels In Second Place

LAS VEGAS - The No. 13 UNLV men's golf team shot rounds of 2-under-par 286 and 11-under 277 on Sunday during the first day of play at the National Invitational Tournament, which is being held at Omni Tucson National Golf Club (par 72, 7,094 yards) in Tucson, Ariz.

The Rebels shot a 36-hole total of 13-under 563 and are in second place, three shots behind New Mexico who leads the 15-team field at 16-under. Host Arizona is tied for third with TCU at 8-under, while Kent State rounds out the top five at 4-under.

New Mexico's Nick Geyer shot rounds of 6-under 66 and 1-under 71, and Arizona's Philip Bagdade shot 3-under 69 and 4-under 68 to tie for the tournament's individual lead at 7-under 137. UNLV's Eddie Olson is four shots back in a tie for eighth place to lead all Rebel players. Olson had rounds of 4-under 68 and 1-over 73 during Sunday's play.

Other UNLV players: Ji Moon (75-67--142, -2, T10th), Colby Smith (72-70--142, -2, T10th), Derek Ernst (73-70--143, -1, T16th), Brett Kanda (73-70--143, -1, T16th) and Jeremiah Wooding (79-79--158, +14, T81st), who is competing as an individual.
