UNLV-Oklahoma State Game Notes 
IN THE BATTER'S BOX
UNLV (13-8) takes a break from Mountain West Conference games and begins its longest string of road games this season when it opens up a two-game series at nationally-ranked Oklahoma State (15-7) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. (PT). It is the first of seven straight road games for the Rebels, who will wrap up the short stay in Stillwater on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., while also traveling to play Long Beach State this weekend and then Cal State Northridge next week. The Rebels are coming off a series victory over Air Force last weekend at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, where UNLV won the first two games of the set before dropping the third on Sunday. UNLV is still searching for its first road win of the season, as the Rebels are 0-3 following a three-game sweep at San Diego State on March 13-15. UNLV is now 13-8 overall and 2-4 in the MWC after taking two-of-three from Air Force last weekend at Earl E. Wilson Stadium ... The Rebels opened the series by hitting for home runs in each of the first two games to win by scores of 11-3 and 10-5, but dropped the final game on Sunday by a score of 11-9 ... UNLV won its opening three games of a season for the first time since 1992, and following three consecutive losses the Rebels ran off eight straight wins ... Junior catcher Drew Beuerlein, who was named the MWC Player of the Week on March 9, was off to a fast start before breaking a bone in his hand, hitting .442 (23-52) with two home runs and 21 RBI to lead the Rebels at the plate ... It is unknown how much time Beuerline will miss because of the injury, suffered on March 18 against Nevada, Reno ... Extra bases have been easy to come by for the Rebels, as they have 88 such hits, including 18 triples and 20 home runs ... A pair of freshman are leading the Rebels on the mound as Tanner Peters and Andrew Beresford have made strong debuts ... Peters is 3-1 with 2.90 ERA in five starts and Beresford is 1-0 with a 4.07 ERA in four starts ... UNLV head coach Buddy Gouldsmith has a career record of 160-164 (.494) and is in his sixth season ... The 160 wins are the second most in school history ... The Rebels opened the season by playing their first 14 games at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, which is tied for the third-longest such stretch in the nation.
COWBOYS AT A GLANCE
Nationally-ranked Oklahoma State is now 15-7 overall and 1-2 in the Big 12 Conference following a three-game series against Nebraska last weekend that opened up conference play for both schools ... The Cornhuskers won the first two games of the series before the Cowboys won on Sunday, 6-3 ... The Cowboys are ranked in nearly every collegiate baseball poll, including as high as No. 17 in the latest ESPN/College Coaches poll ... At the plate the Cowboys are hitting .318 as a team, paced by Neil Medchill, who is hitting .393 (35-89) with eight home runs and 29 RBI ... OSU has seven other regulars hitting at least .309 ... As a team, OSU's pitching staff has a 5.80 ERA and Rany McCurry is 1-0 with six saves in nine appearances and has a 3.09 ERA ... OSU is coached by Frank Anderson, who is 214-115 in his sixth year with the Cowboys.
