UNLV-Long Beach State Game Notes 
IN THE BATTER'S BOX
UNLV (13-10) continues its non-conference road swing, traveling to Long Beach, Calif., to play Long Beach State (7-12) in a three-game series that gets underway Friday night at 6:30 p.m. (PT) at Blair Field. The two teams will play again on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and the series will conclude on Sunday, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The series is part of seven-straight road games for the Rebels, the team's longest such stretch of the season, and UNLV is 0-2 thus far after losing two games at No. 17 Oklahoma State earlier this week. UNLV will wrap up the stretch with a two-game set at Cal State Northridge next week before returning to Earl E. Wilson Stadium for a Mountain West Conference series against Utah next weekend. UNLV is still searching for its first road win of the season, as the Rebels are 0-5 after dropping the pair of games to the Cowboys. REBELS AT A GLANCE
UNLV is now 13-10 overall and 2-4 in the MWC after losing a pair of games at No. 17 Oklahoma State on Tuesday and Wednesday ... The Rebels could not get going offensively against the Cowboys, scoring a total of three runs in the the midweek series in losing 8-2 and 15-1 ... UNLV won its opening three games of a season for the first time since 1992, and following three consecutive losses the Rebels ran off eight straight wins ... Junior catcher Drew Beuerlein, who was named the MWC Player of the Week on March 9, was off to a fast start before breaking a bone in his hand, hitting .442 (23-52) with two home runs and 21 RBI to lead the Rebels at the plate ... It is unknown how much time Beuerline will miss because of the injury, suffered on March 18 against Nevada, Reno ... Extra bases have been easy to come by for the Rebels, as they have 91 such hits, including 18 triples and 21 home runs ... A pair of freshman are leading the Rebels on the mound as Tanner Peters and Andrew Beresford have made strong debuts ... Peters is 3-1 with 2.90 ERA in five starts and Beresford is 1-1 with a 5.05 ERA in five starts as well ... UNLV head coach Buddy Gouldsmith has a career record of 160-166 (.491) and is in his sixth season ... The 160 wins are the second most in school history ... The Rebels opened the season by playing their first 14 games at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, which is tied for the third-longest such stretch in the nation.
DIRTBAGS AT A GLANCE
Long Beach State enters this weekend's series with a 7-12 record after dropping its last three games, including losing 12-5 at San Diego on Tuesday ... The Dirtbags are just 3-6 at home and have yet to play any Big West games ... At the plate LBSU is hitting .288 as a team, paced by Steve Tinoco, who is hitting .385 (20-52) with four home runs and 10 RBI ... OSU has four other regulars hitting at least .316 ... As a team, the Dirtbag's pitching staff has a 6.11 ERA and Adam Wilk, who is slated to start Friday night, is 2-4 with a 3.34 ERA and 23 strikeouts in six appearances, four of those starts ... Long Beach State is coached by Mike Weathers, who is 270-164 in his seventh year with the Dirtbags, and 549-444-2 overall in his 18th season as a collegiate head coach.
