LAS VEGAS - The No. 14 UNLV men's golf team shot rounds of 19-over-par 303 and 20-over 304 on Monday during the first day of play at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate, which is being held at the University of Texas Golf Club (par 71, 7,412 yards) in Austin, Texas.
The Rebels shot a 36-hole total of 39-over 607 and are tied with Baylor and Texas A&M in ninth place. Oklahoma State is the team leader at 1-over 569 after a first-round 1-over 285 and a second-round even-par 284. The Cowboys lead the field by 15 shots. USC is second at 16-over, followed by Arkansas in third at 22-over, host Texas in fourth at 27-over and Pepperdine and TCU are both tied for fifth at 28-over.
USC's Tom Glissmeyer leads all individuals at 3-under 139 after a first-round 2-under 69 and a second-round 1-under 70. Oklahoma State's Kevin Tway is second at 1-under. UNLV was led by Brett Kanda, who is tied for 21st at 7-over 149 after rounds of 8-over 71 and 1-under 70.
Other UNLV players: Ji Moon (75-76--151, +9, T35th), Colby Smith (75-78--153, +11, T47th), Derek Ernst (74-80--154, +12, T51st) and Eddie Olson (79-82--161, +19, T83rd).
