UNLV at Air Force Game Notes 
IN THE BATTER'S BOX
UNLV (20-20, 5-7 MWC) wraps up a five-game road trip with a conference clash at Air Force, with the first game set for 12:00 p.m. (PT) at Falcon Field, with game two of the series Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and the final game set for Sunday at 11:00 a.m. The Rebels are still searching for their first win on the road, as they are 0-12 on the year, but are a robust 20-8 at the friendly confines of Earl E. Wilson Stadium. This will be the second time this year that the Rebels and Falcons have played, as UNLV took two-of-three from Air Force at Wilson Stadium on March 20-22. The Rebels play Air Force and San Diego State twice in league play this year. UNLV saw its five-game winning streak snapped earlier this week, dropping a pair of games at Texas Tech by scores of 10-6 and 14-5 down in Lubbock, Texas. UNLV is now 20-20 overall and 5-7 in the MWC after losing a pair of games at Texas Tech on Tuesday and Wednesday, which brought an end to the Rebels' five-game winning streak ... UNLV had early leads in both games, but the Red Raiders won by scores of 10-6 and 14-5 ... Senior outfielder J.J. Sferra saw his 28-game hitting streak come to and end on Wednesday, as he went 0-for-5 against the Red Raiders ... The streak is the third longest in school history and overall Sferra leads the Rebels with a .417 (63-151) batting average ... Jesse Wight has hit a team-high six home runs while Scott Berke has knocked in a team-leading 29 runs ... Freshman pitcher Tanner Peters is leading the Rebels on the mound, posting a strong rookie season with a 5-2 record to go with a 2.90 ERA and 51 strikeouts in nine starts ... The freshman threw the school's fifth one-hit complete game on April 17 in a 2-0 win over Northern Colorado ... UNLV head coach Buddy Gouldsmith has a career record of 167-176 (.487) and is in his sixth season ... The 167 wins are the second most in school history ... The Rebels opened the 2009 season by playing their first 14 games at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, which is tied for the third-longest such stretch in the nation.
FALCONS AT A GLANCE
Air Force brings an 13-24 overall mark and a 2-7 MWC record into the series after beating Northern Colorado twice on Tuesday and Wednesday by scores of 6-3 and 8-6... Last weekend UNLV swept a four-game series from Northern Colorado ... At the plate AFA is hitting .297 as a team and is being paced by Matt Alexander, who is hitting .386 (61-158) with 13 home runs and 49 RBI ... Alexander also had laced 12 doubles and three triples and has scored 43 runs ... Overall there are five regulars in the Falcon lineup who are hitting .306 or better ... Saturday starter Alex Truesdale has been the top performer on the mound, going 2-5 with a 5.40 ERA in seven starts, striking out 31 and walking five in 41.2 innings of work ... Aaron Kurcz has picked up six saves and is 3-3 with a 5.40 ERA in 16 appearances ... Air Force is coached by Mike Hutcheon, who is 64-232 in his sixth season at the Academy and 303-372 overall in his 15th as a collegiate head coach.
