UNLV (25-23, 9-9 Mountain West) returns home to play its final regular season non-conference game of the season, hosting UC Riverside (27-14, 7-8 Big West) in a Tuesday tilt that gets underway at 6:00 p.m. (PT) at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. This is the first of a home-and-home between the two clubs, as the Rebels will return the trip and visit the Highlanders next Tuesday in Riverside. UNLV is 21-9 at home this season, including 16-5 against non-conference opponents. Last weekend the Rebels took two-of-three from New Mexico on the road, dropping the first game (8-4) before going on and winning the next two, 8-6 and 13-11. The 13-11 victory was a 10-inning affair and it marked the second time this season that the Rebels need an extra inning to earn a win, as they beat Utah on April 5, 4-3, in a 10-inning game. REBELS AT A GLANCE

UNLV is now 25-23 overall and 9-9 in the MWC after earning a series win at New Mexico last weekend ... The Rebels won back-to-back road games for the second time this season and second time in as many weekends, beating the Lobos 8-6 and 13-11 on Saturday and Sunday ... Senior outfielder J.J. Sferra saw his 28-game hitting streak come to and end on April 22, as he went 0-for-5 against the Red Raiders ... The streak is the third longest in school history and overall Sferra has a .404 (76-188) batting average ... Ryan Thornton has hit a team-high eight home runs and driven in a team-leading 36 runs ... Freshman pitcher Tanner Peters is leading the Rebels on the mound, posting a strong rookie season with a 5-4 record to go with a 3.84 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 11 starts ... The freshman threw the school's fifth one-hit complete game on April 17 in a 2-0 win over Northern Colorado ... UNLV head coach Buddy Gouldsmith has a career record of 172-179 (.489) and is in his sixth season ... The 172 wins are the second most in school history ... The Rebels opened the 2009 season by playing their first 14 games at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, which is tied for the third-longest such stretch in the nation.

HIGHLANDERS AT A GLANCE

UC Riverside brings a 27-14 overall mark and a 7-8 Big West Conference mark into Tuesday's game, and the Highlanders were ranked in the top 25 earlier this season ... UCR has won seven of its last eight games, including the final two games of a series at home against Pacific ... The Highlanders are hitting .280 as a team with five regulars in the lineup hitting .317 or better ... The top hitter on the club is Michael Hur, who is hitting .358 (53-148) with six home runs and 39 RBI ... Carl Uhl is hitting .335 and has 17 doubles and five home runs ... The Highlanders have posted a 3.96 ERA, and their top starter is Paul Applebee, who is 7-2 with a 3.75 ERA to go along with 53 strikeouts in 69.2 innings of work ... UCR closer Joseph Kelly has nine saves and a 4.84 ERA in 16 appearances, along with a 1-1 overall record and 15 strikeouts ...
