CAMP REBEL - After enjoying an off-day to travel to its off-campus training site on Tuesday, the UNLV football team will plunge into two-a-day practices for the first time this preseason.
The Rebels will hit the field for a 22-period session starting at 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday and return for a 21-period workout at 5:35 p.m.
Head coach Mike Sanford listed his staff's general goals for this squad before it returns to Las Vegas on August 20.
"We want each player to become a better player than when he arrived here and our team needs to be the best it has been at this point in the preseason when we leave here," he said. "We want to be physical but also stay healthy and we need to come together and develop team chemistry, which is so important during the year."
WOLFE A WONDER: After learning Tuesday that Ryan Wolfe had been announced as part of the official Watch List for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, Sanford was quick to say that his star wide receiver had a legit chance to become a finalist.
"Ryan Wolfe is one of the top-level receivers in college football, not just a guy on a watch list. I coached (former USC star) Keyshawn Johnson when he went to the ceremony for the Biletnikoff as a finalist, and Ryan is every bit as productive as Keyshawn was. We're all looking forward to seeing his senior season unfold."
