Wolfe On Biletnikoff Watch List

Aug. 11, 2009

LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior Ryan Wolfe is one of 37 individuals selected to the Watch List for the 2009 Biletnikoff Award, which recognizes the top wide receiver in college football, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced today.

Wolfe ranked ninth in the nation with 7.3 receptions per game last season and also was 21st in the country with 86.7 receiving yards per game. His 88 receptions during the year tied a school record for most receptions in a season.

In 2008, Wolfe became the first UNLV player since 1994 to record at least 1,000 yards receiving in a season and he shattered the school record for 100-yard games in a career with 10 (he had five just last season alone). He also became the first Rebel receiver in history to be named First Team All-MWC more than once in a career.

Already his school's career leader in receptions (209) and receiving yards (2,735), Wolfe returns in 2009 as college football's second-leading active receiver.

This is the second time in three years that Wolfe has started the season on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, as he entered his sophomore campaign on the initial list. The last Rebel wide receiver to be considered for the prestigious honor before then was Earvin Johnson, who was a semifinalist in 2004.

The winner of the 17th Biletnikoff Award will be announced as part of ESPN's College Football Awards Show on December 10th. The award will be officially presented to the winner at the annual Biletnikoff Award dinner, hosted by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club, on February 12, 2009.
