LAS VEGAS - With Camp Rebel now closed for the summer and classes underway, our final preseason report found the team back on the campus' practice field Tuesday for the first time since Friday. After Saturday's scrimmage at Sam Boyd Stadium, the players got both Sunday and Monday off before getting back to work with meetings at the Lied Athletic Complex.
The coaches are doing their best to get the team used to game-week conditions and practiced for 16 periods on a very warm Tuesday afternoon at Rebel Park.
The squad will be back again around the same time on Wednesday and also hold practices Thursday and Friday. All of the UNLV football practices are now closed to the public.

BLACK JERSEY BACK TO THE CLOSET: The final Black Jersey was awarded on Tuesday, earned from last Saturday's scrimmage performances. There was no honoree on the offensive side of the ball but the nominees were sophomore wide receiver Phillip Payne (Las Vegas/Western HS) and sophomore tight end Kyle Watkins (Phoenix, AZ/Cactus Shadows HS/Scottsdale CC).
The only such jersey awarded on the last day was worn by defensive end Preston Brooks (Los Angeles, CA/Dorsey HS/Washington State) while the nominees were Quinton Pointer (Cape Coral, FL/Mariner HS), Jason Beauchamp (San Diego, CA/Steele Canyon HS) and Daniel Mareko (Pago Pago, American Samoa/Faga'itua HS).
