Koloskie Appointed Interim AD

Aug. 27, 2009

LAS VEGAS - UNLV President Neal Smatresk announced Thursday that Senior Associate Athletics Director Jerry Koloskie has accepted the position of interim athletics director, effective immediately. Koloskie had been serving as acting athletics director following the recent departure of Mike Hamrick. President Smatresk plans a formal search process, as specified in Nevada System of Higher Education code, to identify a permanent successor to Hamrick.

Koloskie has been a member of the athletics department at UNLV for the past 26 years, serving the last 10 years as senior associate athletics director. In his previous role, Koloskie was responsible for overseeing all internal functions of the athletics department and served as the sport administrator for men's and women's basketball, track and field, cross country and baseball. He was also responsible for the daily operations of UNLV's athletics training, strength and conditioning and athletics equipment departments.

Koloskie came to UNLV in 1982 to become co-head athletics trainer and by the following year was named head athletics trainer for all intercollegiate athletics teams at UNLV. Koloskie served on the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports Committee from 2004-2008 and served as the Chair of the Committee from 2006-2008.

Koloskie earned a bachelor's degree from West Virginia University in 1980, before which he played baseball for two years at Marietta (Ohio) College. He earned a master's degree in physical education from Iowa State University in 1981.
