UNLV Athletics Media Relations Restructured

Aug. 28, 2009

LAS VEGAS - In an effort to enhance the communications and outreach efforts for Rebel athletics, UNLV's Interim Athletics Director Jerry Koloskie has announced the restructuring of the media relations department.

Andy Grossman, who has been the athletics department's director of media relations for the past nine years, has been promoted to assistant athletics director for media relations and communications, while Mark Wallington, who has served as the associate director for sports information, also since 2000, has been promoted to director of media relations.

As an assistant athletics director, Grossman now reports directly to the athletics director and is a member of the senior staff, a move designed to improve lines of communication both within the athletics department, to the UNLV campus and with the local community.

"We are making a strong commitment to better inform and communicate with both the UNLV campus and Southern Nevada communities," Koloskie said. "This structural change will help us streamline the process and help to make Rebel athletics more visible and more accessible to our fans, donors and the communities that surround us."

Grossman, a 1996 graduate of the University of Arizona, served as an assistant sports information director at UNLV from 1996 until joining the public relations division of MGM Mirage in early 2000. He returned to UNLV Athletics in the fall of 2000 to become its director of media relations.

Wallington, who earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 1991 and his master's from the same school in 1993, joined UNLV Athletics as an assistant sports information director later that year, a position he held for seven years before being elevated in 2000.

Primary sport responsibilities will remain unchanged.
