LAS VEGAS - UNLV football's radio broadcasts, including a new home for the coach's show, begin their seasons this week as the Rebels kick off on Saturday night vs. Sacramento State at Sam Boyd Stadium.
All 12 UNLV football games will be heard again this fall on ESPN 1100 AM (KWWN) marking the 11th consecutive year that the Rebels are partnered with Lotus Broadcasting. UNLV's radio team is again made up of KLAS TV-8 (CBS) morning new anchor Dave McCann returning play-by-play voice and former college and NFL star Mike Pritchard, who is in his fourth season as the school's analyst. Saturday's broadcast of the opener will begin with Rebel Warm-Up at 6:30 p.m. (PT).
The UNLV ISP Sports Network, which also includes Reno station KHIT 1450 AM, announced that the weekly "Mike Sanford Radio Show" has a new home inside Liquidity at the Luxor Hotel. Fans are invited join the head coach, McCann and Pritchard at the shows -- and those in attendance can win prizes, courtesy of the Luxor, Findlay Toyota and UNLV Athletics. Twitter followers will be getting a behind-the-scenes look into the radio booth, including being able to contact the on-air talent.
The "Mike Sanford Radio Show" debuts Thursday (Sept. 3) from 7-8 p.m. on ESPN 1100 AM and will be heard every week at that time except for moving to Wednesday on Sept. 9 and Nov. 11 and to Tuesday on Nov. 17 and Nov. 14 (see full schedule below).
Another change for the "Mike Sanford Radio Show" this fall is the weekly addition of segments featuring newly named Interim Director of Athletics Jerry Koloskie as well as an appearance each week from a different head coach from one of the school's other 16 varsity sports. This week's guest coach will be UNLV men's soccer Mario Sanchez, who is fresh off a season-opening upset road win over No. 23 Cal Poly.
