OWASSO, Okla. - The UNLV women's golf team jumped out to a share of the lead after first-round action at the Dale McNamara Invitational hosted by University of Tulsa at The Patriot Golf Club, finishing the round with a 4-over 292.

The Rebels are tied with No. 20 Oklahoma atop the leader board and are one shot ahead of Middle Tennessee State and five up on No. 33 Texas, who sits in third at 9-over par.

"We played really well today on a difficult golf course," said head coach Amy Bush. "Some of our key players came through, played well and finished strong."

Reigning Mountain West Conference Golfer of the Month Therese Koelbaek fired an opening-round 69 and enters the day two tied for third. Koelbaek shot even par on the front nine and finished with a flurry of birdies at holes four, six and seven on the backside to come in a 3-under par.

Kristen Schelling shot even par on the day and is tied for sixth while Alejandra Guacaneme is one stroke behind Schelling after a 1-over par 73. In her first tournament of the year, Ellis Keenan stands in a tie for 42nd after a 6-over par 78. True freshman Katerina Prorokova shot a 7-over 79 in the opening round and sits in a tie for 50th.

"On this course it is important for the girls to always be thinking and to remain patient," added Bush. "I am very excited for our team."
