LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV fall World Series was evened at one game apiece as Team Black posted a 6-4 win over Team Scarlet at Wilson Stadium.
Team Black captain Hunter Beaty led the way on the night with two doubles, a walk and an RBI in the winning effort. After walking to start the game, Beaty stole second and scored on an error by Team Scarlet third baseman Travis Feiner to grab a 1-0 lead after the top of the first.
Team Scarlet battled back in the bottom half of the inning, platting two runs to take its first lead of the game. Marvin Campbell walked and stole second before scoring on Feiner's RBI bloop single to left field while Richie Jimenez continued his stellar play this fall with an RBI double off the wall in left center, scoring Feiner.
Ryan Scott led off the second with a double and scored on Beaty's RBI double to center, tying the game at 2-2. Beaty would score later in the top of the second to give Team Black a 3-2 lead.
Team Black would add one in the third and two more runs in the fourth to push its lead to 6-2. Scarlet Remington Pullin and Casey Sato each scored in the bottom half of the fourth to cut the deficit to two at 6-4, but that would be as close as they would get, managing just one hit over the next three innings.
The Rebels will continue their fall classic this weekend with a pair of games starting Friday, Nov. 19th at 10 a.m. at Wilson Stadium. The two teams will also play a 10 a.m. game the following day.
