LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV senior outside hitter Sara Nehf was named to the Mountain West's All-Conference Team Tuesday following a vote by the league's nine head coaches. This is Nehf's first time being named to the All-MWC squad.
Nehf, who played in all 30 matches and 114 sets this season, led the Rebels in kills (393), kills per set (3.45) and aces (20). She finished second on the team in double-doubles (five) and third in both digs (184) and digs per set (1.61). She also contributed 41 total blocks (seven solo) and 14 assists.
She had four matches of 21 or more kills this season and topped out at a career-high 25 against TCU on Oct. 31. In all, she notched double digits in kills on 20 occasions. She also had two matches of 20 digs and six overall in double figures.
She earned all-tournament honors twice at the start of the 2010 campaign at Oregon State's Active Ankle Challenge (Sept. 3-4) and the Rebels' own UNLV Invitational (Sept. 10-11).
For her career, she played in 101 matches and 324 sets and left her name etched in two categories of UNLV's all-time record book. She ranks fourth in total attempts with 2,442 and eighth in kills with 879. She also contributed 470 digs, 106 total blocks (21 solo), 34 aces and 34 assists in her four years as a Rebel.
The conference coaches selected Colorado State's Danielle Minch as the player of the year for the second consecutive season. Utah's Morgan Odale was tabbed the league's freshman of the year, while BYU's Stephanie Snow took home newcomer of the year honors.
New Mexico's Jeff Nelson was chosen the MWC's Coach of the Year for the first time in his career, as he led the Lobos to their third 20-win season in a row (20-9) and a second-place finish in the league standings.
