LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams both stand in first place after one day of action on Saturday at the UNLV Winter Invitational, held at Buchanan Natatorium. The three-day meet continues Sunday and concludes on Monday.
The 18th-ranked UNLV men won all four events that results were available for on Saturday. The results for 400 medley relay for both the men and women will not be available until Sunday. Winning individual events was Kier Maitland in the 500 free (4:22.04), David Seiler in the 200 IM (1:54.70) and Charlie Tapp in the 50 free (20.45). The Rebels also won the 200 free relay in 1:19.28, thanks to the team of Calan Eldridge, Kyle Virva, Paul Jovanovich and Andrew Morrell.
The Rebels stand atop the leaderboard with 314 points, while Concordia is second with 220, Fresno Pacific third with 180.5, and La Verne is fourth with 6.
Wins for the UNLV women came in the 500 free by Jessica Heim in 4:58.28, Brittany Ozar in the 200 IM in 2:04.77, and in the 200 free relay (Hilary Ego, Rachel Dixon, Megan Clark and Maddison Rousell) in 1:34.82. UNLV has 343.5 points after day one, while New Mexico State is second with 200, Fresno Pacific is third with 69, Cal State Bakersfield is fourth (58), Concordia fifth (58) and Azusa Pacific sixth (15.5).
