LAS VEGAS - Still two weeks away from presiding over his first practice as UNLV's new head football coach, Bobby Hauck already got things going in town by being named Grand Marshal of one of Las Vegas' biggest sporting events.
After a nearly two-hour rain delay, Hauck gave the command to start the engines of the 51 entries at the 14th running of the NASCAR Nationwide Series Sam's Town 300 Saturday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Kevin Harvick won the race by 1.3 seconds over Denny Hamlin. Danica Patrick was involved in a crash on Lap 83 and finished 36th while Las Vegans Brendan Gaughan finished 13th and Kyle Busch was 16th.
Hauck's Rebels will open their spring practice on March 15 with the annual Spring Game scheduled for Saturday, April 17 at noon at Sam Boyd Stadium.
The team's complete spring schedule will be released this coming week.
