NEW ORLEANS - UNLV baseball committed four errors and could not get going offensively, losing 7-1 to Tulane on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at Turchin Stadium. The loss snapped the Rebels' four-game winning streak and also ended a five-game road winning streak.
The Green Wave scored four runs in the bottom of the second and never trailed in improving to 22-14 overall, while the Rebels dropped to 21-14 on the year. UNLV starter Stephen Singer (1-5) took the loss, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits in 3.2 innings of work. The win was credited to Tulane starter Robby Broach, who gave up one run on seven hits and struck out eight in eight innings of work.
UNLV got on the board in the top of the when Cash Thomas and Nolan Clark led off the frame with singles, and then a strike out, Hunter Beaty hit a single through the left side of the infield to score Thomas. That run capped the scoring on the afternoon.
The Rebels and Green Wave each finished the game with eight hits, but Tulane took advantage of four UNLV errors, including scoring two unearned runs in the four-run second inning. Tulane then scored two runs in the fourth and another run in the seventh.
UNLV and Tulane wrap up their series Sunday, with the first pitch set for 10:00 a.m. (PT).
