LAS VEGAS - After taking last week off for spring break, the UNLV football team returned to Rebel Park on Monday afternoon for its ninth practice of spring ball. While mostly sunny, the two-hour session was dominated by cold April temps and gusty conditions.
Head coach Bobby Hauck was unfazed by the conditions.
"The wind blows here so you have to learn to play in it. In this conference you need to be able to deal with all kinds of weather conditions. Overall it was a nice practice for us."
After a week to reflect on the first half of spring practice, Hauck and his staff tinkered a bit with some players' positions.
"We'll take a look (on practice video) and maybe they're right back where they started next time out or maybe some moves become permanent," Hauck said. "Spring is a time to experiment."
HAWLEY HERE
Joe Hawley, who just completed his four-year career along the Rebel offensive line, took in the early portion of practice Monday. After posting a series of impressive numbers at last month's NFL Combine and UNLV's Pro Timing Day, Hawley's stock is rising as draft day approaches.
"I have a good feeling about how things are going," said Hawley, who heads to Denver Tuesday for an interview with the Broncos organization.
