CAMP REBEL (UNLVRebels.com) - Wednesday marked the first day in full pads for the UNLV football team in 2010 fall practice and also another first -- playing under the lights.
The three-hours-plus session didn't end until after dark and Head Coach Bobby Hauck liked the results.
"Great work out there today," he said. "I was impressed how our team hopped off the bus and practiced well. That means we're making progress with our work ethic. It seems like we have a million miles to go but it was good to see some success by both sides of the ball today."
Next up, the squad will experience its first-ever double-day under Hauck. The Rebels are scheduled to practice at 9 a.m. in half pads and then go again at 3:30 p.m. in full pads.
QB MOVES
True freshman walk-on Connor Embree has moved from quarterback to receiver during camp in search of making more of an impact. The 5-10, 170-pound athlete is out of Overland Park, KS, and graduated from Blue Valley West High School.
TWO MORE IN THE MIX
A pair of 2010 signees saw their first field action Wednesday. Big offensive lineman Brett Boyko out of Canada (Saskatoon/St. Joseph HS) and defensive back Tajh Hasson (Los Angeles/Cathedral HS) were cleared for action and started their acclimation period in a helmet and shorts.
