Virva Earns Second Weekly Honor

For the second time this year, Kyle Virva has been named MWC Swimmer of the Week. - For the fourth time this season a UNLV swimmer has been named the Mountain West Conference Swimmer of the Week, as Kyle Virva picked up his second honor of the season the league office announced on Tuesday.

A native of Nevada City, Calif., the senior won a pair of events in a 23-point win over TCU on Jan. 7, which avenged the Rebels' only conference loss of the 2009-10 season. He placed first in the 100 free in a time of 45.60, and added a win in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:39.98. He also helped the 400 free relay place first in a time of 3:01.90.

UNLV, ranked 16th in the nation with a 4-1 record, 2-0 in the MWC, returns to action on Friday, Jan. 14 with a double dual meet against Air Force and Denver in Denver at 3 pm (PST).
