More than 250 people attended the event, which included all of UNLV's female student-athletes from its 12 women's sports programs.
Each team was introduced by the Women of Excellence Advisory Board Members, the UNLV Sportswoman of the Year was recognized (Amanda Bingson from track & field), and Jeff Wollard was presented with a montage of some of his work in appreciation for his promotion of UNLV women's sports through his work with the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The Women of Excellence continually strive for excellence in both the classroom and in competition. The Fund celebrates that dedication and recognizes the need to broaden the community base of support as well as offer financial assistance for various needs that might arise. Donors to the Fund help strengthen UNLV women's sports programs and assist in providing opportunities for UNLV student-athletes in their pursuit of excellence academically, socially and athletically.
Specific goals of the Women of Excellence Athletic Fund are to generate funds for UNLV women's sports to assist in the enhancement of each sport, to provide the UNLV student-athletes with personal and professional development and to enhance community awareness of UNLV women's athletics programs.
