LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -

With a veteran-heavy team that features three senior and two juniors in the starting lineup, the UNLV women's basketball team is hoping for a strong start to the 2011-12 season. It will not be an easy task this weekend however, with UNLV opening up the year in the Iowa Hawkeye Challenge, and the first opponent is on Saturday at 2:30 pm (PT) against Butler, a 20-win team from a year ago that played in the WNIT. Awaiting UNLV on Sunday would be either a Harvard team that was 18-10 last year, or a host Iowa squad that is one of the preseason favorites in the Big Ten while also receiving votes in the preseason top 25 polls.
