FLUSHING, N.Y. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV sophomore Aleksandra Josifoska lost her first round match at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships, which got underway Thursday at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
Josifoska, ranked 117th nationally, earned a spot in the elite 32-player singles main draw by winning the ITA Mountain Regional title last month in Las Vegas. She drew a first-round matchup with 25th-ranked Anna Bartenstein of Miami (Fla.) and lost a three-setter to the senior standout, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
Josifoska will get another chance at a win on Friday during in consolation play. The tournament runs through Sunday.
