UNLV Postgame Quotes

Nov. 5, 2011

Head coach Bobby Hauck

Opening statement…
Pretty good football game, obviously more pleased with the first half than the second., I thought our guys went out and played hard, very physical. Did some god things, ran the ball pretty well, tackled well. Certainly they're an awfully good football team and we struggled to keep up in the second half and they did some really good things. They were well prepared, very well coached. It's obvious why their record is what it is.

On the status of quarterback Caleb Herring…
I haven't been in the training room yet, but certainly he's not at the hospital or anything that would warrant more concern. He was in the locker room with the players after the game.

On going into tonight's game…
I told the team last night that I thought we were getting better. I thought we had prepared well and I like our attitude, I like our fight. All signs that one day we can be a really competitive, hard nose football team.

On what quarterback Kellen Moore did well tonight…
The screen hurt us. He fits it in there nice. He just doesn't miss, he's a good player. Like their guys will tell you, I don't know him as well as they do, but I know him a little bit and he's an even better guy than he is a player. He's an impressive guy, there is a reason why I believe tonight he broke a record of some sort and congratulations to him.

On what Kellen Moore does well…
He's really accurate under duress, throwing under one foot, throwing on the run, he's as accurate when he's standing in there, which may be the most impressive thing other than his smarts.

On knocking several Boise State players out of the game…
Well they knocked a couple of ours out too. It was a physical football game. I think hard-nosed, physical - the way we envisioned football being played. Two physical football teams going at each other. I hope I'm not speaking out of line when I say that.

On the running game…
As we try to build our football program here, we've got to be able to establish a run game and we're certainly determined to do that. I think it showed up and its one of the things that we have a lot of close friends on the Boise staff and its one of the things they talked about pregame, they noticed that we were sticking with our guns, sticking with who we want to be and hopefully we're getting the message across both in our locker room and then on the film. That's what we're here to do.

On being more aggressive the end of the first half…
We're in the game with a top five team in the country and have the ball coming out of the locker room, we only had one time out, so there's a difference and being stupid, we were trying not to be stupid.

On the front seven…
Well if it was a 30 minute game we'd be pleased. Gotta play 60, we're not into moral victories.

On not turning the ball over tonight…
What I'm not pleased with is the fact that we had a chance to come up with four if my count is right, maybe a fifth. We dropped two interceptions, one on the end zone that was tipped and their player caught it for a touchdown. The ball was on the ground three or four times and people had a chance to come up with a few and didn't, and I'm not happy about that. We needed those. If we're going to win this game we have to come up with those.
