This is the third time in the last four games the Lady Rebels will face a team with Wildcats as their mascot, after playing Northwestern (Dec. 18) and Kansas State (Dec. 20).

This is also the third game in the last four that UNLV will face a team from one of the power conferences (BCS). The Lady Rebels are 2-3 against such teams this year, with wins at Iowa and at home over Kansas State. The last time UNLV had more then one win in a season over such teams was in 2003-04, when the Lady Rebels had wins over four teams, two in the regular season (Mississippi State, South Florida) and two in the postseason (Arizona State, Iowa State).

Two Lady Rebels could reach milestones in Wednesday's game against the Wildcats. Senior forward Jamie Smith is just six rebounds away from reaching 1,000 in her career, while junior guard Kelli Thompson is eight points away from the 1,000 career mark.
