LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Playing for the first time since the end of January, the 35th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team whitewashed Denver 7-0 in the first of a Friday doubleheader at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Lady Rebels, who will play Utah State later in the day, improved to 5-1 while the Pioneers fell to 3-4.

UNLV began the morning by winning two of three doubles matches for one team point. Nives Pavlovic and Aleksandra Josifoska combined for an 8-5 win at the top of the lineup while Adrienn Hidvegi and Jana Albers won 8-3 on court three.

In singles, Lucia Batta, ranked 68th, got past Sophia Bergner 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at the No. 1 position; Josifoska won 6-3, 6-2 over Elena Najera at No. 2; Pavlovic won 6-3, 6-4 Emma Isberg at No. 3; Adrienn Hidvegi defeated Natalie Dunn at No. 4 when Dunn retired after the first set at No. 4; Albers downed Caroline Schnell 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 at No. 5; and Anna Maskaljun downed Steffi Rath 6-1, 6-2 on court six.
