Feb. 23, 2011

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV tennis players won both the Mountain West Conference men's (Mehdi Bouras) and women's (Aleksandra Josifoska) Player of the Week awards, the league announced Wednesday.

Josifoska won her first such award after posting a 7-0 combined record in singles and doubles over the weekend as the Lady Rebels picked up four more team wins.

Playing at the No. 2 position in the lineup, the freshman won all four of her matches in straight sets, including a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ralphaela Zotter of 61st-ranked Wichita State. Josifoska improved her singles record to 11-2 on the year, including a sparkling 6-0 in dual matches as a rookie. Playing at the No. 1 doubles spot, Josifoska also teamed with partner Nives Pavlovic to tally three doubles victories.

The 45th-ranked Lady Rebels (8-1) are off until heading to play Fresno State on March 4.
