LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The 43rd-ranked UNLV women's tennis team rebounded from an upset loss last weekend to down No. 52 Boise State 6-1 on a warm and sunny Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Lady Rebels improved to 10-2 on the year while the Broncos, who will join the Mountain West Conference next season, fell to 9-5.

UNLV jumped out to a 1-0 lead by sweeping three doubles matches. Nives Pavlovic and Aleksandra Josifoska teamed up for an 8-3 win over Marlena Pietzuch and Lauren Megale at the top position; Lucia Batta and Anna Maskaljun won 8-1 over Stephanie Jasper and Sandy Vo at No. 2; and Adrienn Hidvegi and Jana Albers won 8-4 over Sonia Klamczynska and Morgan Basil on court three.

In singles, UNLV won five matches - all in straight sets. Batta, ranked 77th, downed Megale 6-1, 7-5 at the top spot to improve to a team-leading 19-5 on the season as a freshman. Fellow-rookie Josifoska won 6-4, 6-4 over Klamczynska at No. 2; Pavlovic swept Jasper 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3; Albers downed Basil 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5; and Maskaljun won 6-0, 6-2 over Vo on court six to move into a tie with Veronica Goude (1997-2000) for fifth place on UNLV's career singles wins list with 81.

UNLV will be right back on the courts Saturday morning when it hosts No. 35 SMU beginning with doubles at 10 a.m. Admission to all UNLV tennis matches is free of charge.
