Day One Complete Results
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team opened up first-round action at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii today, shooting a team total of 613 (+37), standing in sixth place.
No. 9 Arizona State leads the field of 19 teams after shooting 586 (+10) through two rounds. Notre Dame, ranked 24th entering this week in the latest Golfweek/Saragin rankings, is in second, five shots back while No. 10 Arizona is 14 strokes off the lead at +24.
UNLV senior Therese Koelbaek led the Rebels on the day, carding a 2-over par 74 in each of the first two rounds played. Koelbaek stands just six shots of the lead heading into the final round. Freshman Katerina Prorokova was 10-over for the day, opening with a 6-over 78 in the first round and a 4-over 76 in the second round.
Ellis Keenan stands just one shot back of Prorokova at 11-over through two rounds of play. Keenan was 8-over after her first round but turned in a 3-over 75 in round two to remain in the hunt for a top-20 finish. Senior Alejandra Guacaneme posted rounds of 80 and 76 to finish at 12-over par for the day.
Carlota Ciganda (Arizona State) leads the field of over 100 players and is one of only two to enter the final day under par. Her first round of 4-under was followed by a 2-over 74, leaving her at 2-under heading into todays final round. Alejandra Llaneza (Arizona) is the only other player entering the final day under par after shooting rounds of 70 and 73 respectively.
The Rebels will conclude action at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational today with tee times starting early in the morning at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Club.
