LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV football's 2011 season-opening game at Wisconsin will be a played on Thursday night, Sept. 1, the schools announced.

Exact game time and television information will be announced at a later date.

The Rebels will make their fifth visit all-time to Camp Randall Stadium but their first since 2004. UNLV and Wisconsin also played each other to open last season in Las Vegas with the 12th-ranked Badgers earning a 41-21 victory.

The move off of Saturday means UNLV will play its 13th Thursday game in history. The program boasts an 8-4 record on Thursdays (including one bowl game) and an impressive overall non-Saturday record of 14-7-1.

The last time the Rebels opened a season on a Thursday was a 23-16 victory at Utah State on Aug. 30, 2007. The last time Wisconsin played a home game on a Thursday night was a season-opening win over Western Michigan on Aug. 31, 2000.

UNLV head coach Bobby Hauck's team concludes its spring practice this week with Saturday's Spring Showcase at Rebel Park on campus. The annual scrimmage, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled to run from 10-11:30 a.m. For more information on Rebel football, visit www.unlvrebels.com.
