TCU Game Notes

FORT WORTH, Texas (UNLVRebels.com)
- Following its 7-4 Tuesday night win over Baylor in Waco, Texas, the UNLV baseball team will open a three-game series against Mountain West Conference rival and seventh-ranked TCU Thursday night in Fort Worth.

The Rebels (25-14, 4-7 Mountain West) and Horned Frogs will begin a three-game series for the second time this season, with TCU taking two of three games during the opening weekend in conference action in Las Vegas, March 18-20.
TCU (27-11, 10-2 Mountain West) enters the series with a game and a half lead in the MWC standings, but will face one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the conference. Junior Trent Cook leads the Rebel offense and is in the midst of a 14-game hitting streak, batting .452 over that span with eight multi-hit games and 15 RBI.

UNLV's Friday night ace Tanner Peters (6-2) is the reigning Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week following his dominating performance over BYU last Thursday in the 7-2 series-opening win. The Simi Valley, Calif. native struck out 11 batters and did not issue a walk, allowing just three hits and two runs on the night.

Thursday night's matchup on the mound between Peters (6-2, 1.40 ERA) and Kyle Winker (6-1, 1.42 ERA) will feature two of the nation's best. Peters struck out a career-high 11 batters in a no decision back on March 18 against the Frogs while Winkler suffered his only loss of the season after giving up a walk-off home run to Brandon Bayardi in the bottom of the ninth.

The two teams will get underway Thursday night with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m. CT at Lupton Stadium. Each of the games this week between the Rebels and Horned Frogs will be broadcast live on The Mtn..
