- Earl E. Wilson Stadium will serve as host to the 2012 Mountain West Conference Championship, the Mountain West Joint Council announced today.

"It is a tremendous honor to be selected to host an event such as the 2012 Mountain West Conference Baseball Championship," said deputy athletic director Jerry Koloskie. "It is a reflection of how hard Coach Tim Chambers, his staff and our facility crew have worked toward the recent renovations and significant improvements to Wilson Stadium. We look forward to a highly competitive tournament next year that will give the community an opportunity to watch some amazing student-athletes compete for a championship title and berth in the NCAA Championship Tournament."

The 2012 MWC Baseball Championship will be a four-team, double-elimination tournament scheduled for Thursday, May 24 to Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Wilson Stadium on the UNLV campus.

"Hosting the 2012 Mountain West Baseball Championship is a tremendous privilege," said first-year head coach Tim Chambers. "It gives us a chance to show the new look of Wilson Stadium and also the community an opportunity to watch some great games between some of the best teams in the nation."

UNLV has served as home of the Mountain West Baseball Championship on four previous occasions. In addition to hosting the inaugural MWC Baseball Championship in 2002, UNLV hosted the 2004, 2006 and 2007 championships.

Wilson Stadium has undergone several improvements over the last year including a new infield surface and renovations to both dugouts as well as the press box. Several further renovations will take place over the next year before the 2012 Mountain West Conference Baseball Championship, including the resurfacing of the outfield.

The 2011 Mountain West Conference Baseball Championship is scheduled for May 24-28 at Tony Gwynn Stadium on the campus of San Diego State University.
