New Mexico Game Notes
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV baseball team will open up a three-game series with Mountain West Conference rival New Mexico this weekend, starting Friday night at Wilson Stadium.
The Rebels (25-18, 4-10 Mountain West) will be playing at home for the first time in two weeks following a four-game road trip in Texas last week and a single game at Southern Utah on Tuesday.
Trent Cook and Scott Dysinger each look to extend hitting streaks in the series opener. Cook is riding an 18 game streak while Dysinger has hit safely in each of his last 12 games. For the year, Cook leads the Rebels with a .394 average and ranks second in RBI with 38.
Tanner Peters (6-3, 1.62 ERA) will take the hill Friday night in the series opener for UNLV. Peters threw 7.1 innings in a 4-1 loss at No. 7 TCU last Thursday and looks to rebound against the Lobos. Following each of his first two losses, Peters has come back the next start to throw a complete game win.
Joe Robinson (4-4, 5.67 ERA) will be the Rebels' Saturday starter. Robinson is second on the team in innings pitched with 60.1 and has one complete game effort to his name this season.
Each game this weekend will be streamed live through www.UNLVrebels.com, with live audio commentary from Marques Brody and former UNLV All-American Eric Nielsen. All three games can also be heard live on KSHP 1400AM with Bob Blum and former Major League Baseball All-Star and World Series Champion Jerry Reuss.
