Sacred Heart Game Notes
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV baseball team will return to action at Wilson Stadium this weekend with a four-game set against Sacred Heart University, starting with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch Friday night.
The Rebels (19-11, 2-6 Mountain West) are coming off a 9-3 loss Tuesday night to Cal State Northridge, their fourth Tuesday loss of the season. UNLV split its weekend series with Utah last week in Salt Lake City, winning Friday night before falling Saturday and having Sunday's series finale cancelled on account of inclement weather.
Friday night ace Tanner Peters (5-1) will take the hill tomorrow, coming off his third complete-game effort of the season last week against Utah. Peters fanned eight and scattered seven hits while not issuing a walk for his fifth win of the season. His counterpart, Troy Scribner, enters the game with a 2-2 record and a 4.91 ERA in 36.2 innings on the mound. Scribner has struck out a team-high 23 batters in seven appearances for the Pioneers (12-14).
Joe Robinson (3-3, 6.37 ERA) will start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader for UNLV while Brandon Rainford (0-0, 8.53 ERA) will get his first-collegiate start in game two. Tyler Iodence (3-1, 3.34 ERA) will toe the line for the Rebels in the Sunday series finale.
Saturday's doubleheader will get underway at 12 p.m. while game two will follow approximately 40 minutes after the conclusion of game one. First pitch on Sunday is slated for 1:05 p.m. at Wilson Stadium. Fans can follow all of the game action through the live-stream online at www.UNLVrebels.com and also listen along on 1400 AM during the first game Saturday and again on Sunday.
