LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV football team will appear on ESPN for the first time since 2004 as the Rebels' season-opening game at Wisconsin on Thursday Sept. 1 has been officially announced by the Big Ten Conference to start at 5 p.m. PT and kick off ESPN's coverage.

In making its fifth visit all-time to Camp Randall Stadium but the first in seven years, UNLV will be part of the channel's first televised game of the season, which will start in Prime Time on the East Coast. The Rebels are 4-6 all-time while appearing on ESPN with their last appearance coming at Tennessee on Sept. 5, 2004. The last time UNLV was on any of the ESPN family of channels was 2005 when the season-opener at New Mexico was on ESPN2 and the program's trip to Nevada, Reno two weeks later was on ESPNU.

In taking on the defending Big Ten champions, UNLV will play its 13th Thursday game in history. The program boasts an 8-4 record on Thursdays (including one bowl game) and an impressive overall non-Saturday record of 14-7-1.

The last time the Rebels opened a season on a Thursday was a 23-16 victory at Utah State on Aug. 30, 2007. The last time Wisconsin played a home game on a Thursday night was a season-opening win over Western Michigan on Aug. 31, 2000.
