Holland Earns All-Region Recognition

2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region Teams

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Just days after being named the Mountain West Conference's Softball Player of the Year, Ashli Holland was tabbed to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-West Region Second Team, announced today. Holland becomes the 30th different Rebel to be named to the regional squad and first since Christie Robinson in 2007. In all, UNLV has had 48 overall selections.

Holland, a four-time All-MWC honoree and three-time conference player of the week, led the Rebels in at-bats (156), hits (58), doubles (14), total bases (101) and six game-winning hits, while tying for the team lead in home runs (nine). She hit .372 and also contributed 34 runs, 16 walks, five stolen bases and one triple. She tied for the team lead in game-winning runs with five. She had 22 multiple-hit games and set a UNLV single-game record with five hits against San Diego State (May 7). She had nine multiple-RBI games and knocked in five against San Diego State (May 8). She had seven multiple-run games and scored three times against UC Riverside (Feb. 11 and Feb. 27) and San Diego State (May 7). She had two hitting streaks of five or more games, including one that lasted eight contests.

She closed out her career ranked highly in eight of UNLV's career records, including: fourth in RBI (139); sixth in both doubles (45) and total bases (326); and seventh in runs (129), home runs (22) and slugging percentage (.514). She finished eighth overall in hits with 209 and became only the ninth Rebel in program history to achieve 200 or more in a career.

The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region. All honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second and third teams.
