LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com)
- UNLV freshman closer Zack Hartman earned Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America honors, announced Collegiate Baseball today.

Hartman is the eighth UNLV player to earn Freshman All-America honors and first since right-hander Matt Luca in 2003.

Hartman registered eight saves on the season and notched a 5-2 record in 22 appearances on the hill for the Rebels. His 2.35 ERA was second lowest on the team while his 29 strikeouts in just 38.1 innings of work ranked fourth on the team.

After yielding four runs in his first collegiate appearance, the Las Vegas native went eight straight games without allowing a run. Primarily a closer, Hartman was also called upon to shore the bullpen, throwing two or more innings on 11 occasions.

Hartman threw three innings four different times, including an April 15th appearance against BYU when he struck out a season-high seven batters and gave up just two hits and a run in a 6-5 win in 10 innings.
