Sandrine In Cameroon, Blog Entry #5

Aug. 24, 2011

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - This is the fifth in a series of blog entries by senior forward Sandrine Nzeukou during her attempt to make the Cameroon National Team.

----------------------------------------------------------

On the 14th there were the first cuts of the camp. Coach Fabio was very disappointed because he explaned to us how he has never had to do this in his career thus far, and with that said two girls got cut from the team which left only 15 remaining. It was hard to see the girls go as we all had started bonding, but we knew it had to happen.

After the cuts at the end of practice we were told we were going to move from our hotel and move somewhere else, but this time the entire team would be lodged. We all went our separate ways and packed our bags. We met at the ministry of sports where we joined the women's handball team who were also moving to the new hotel. As we arrived our coach explained to us his rules for the camp and his expectations. I was trying hard to focus but it was difficult as I couldn't get over how cold and foggy it was up on the mountain. This new lodging was truly designed to help us focus on basketball as there is no internet connection, and only one TV that is in the lobby, with no cable lol. Not only can we not get distracted by those things, we cant get distracted by anything as the hotel sits by itself on the side of Mount Mbankalo. It really is eat, sleep, breathe, basketball.
