LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Lady Rebels took time out of their pre-season workouts to help the homeless of Southern Nevada and feed those taking part of a program with Catholic Charities. Alana Cesarz, Briana Charles, Rmanii Haynes, Danielle Miller, Lenita Sanford and Jamie Smith joined members of the UNLV Rebel Girls and softball team on the morning of Sept. 17 to give back to the community.

A total of 25 athletes from UNLV volunteered their time, and were grouped and trained on the various stations. Rmanii, Lenita and Jamie all worked the front line, providing guests with their utensils, hot soup and fresh bread. Brie, Danielle and Alana interacted with the guests as they exited the facility and helped dispose of the extra food. "Out of all of the community service events I have taken part of in the last three years at UNLV, today I felt like I made the most difference in another persons life," said Smith.

After the rush of lunch attendees, the women's basketball team was able to take a tour of the facilities at Catholic Charities, and gain a better insight on all of the programs they offer to help those in Southern Nevada get back on their feet. The experience was very rewarding, and the Lady Rebels look forward to returning and helping again in the near future. Miller stated, "As long as I made one person smile today, I know I did my job."
