BERKELEY, Calif. - The 36th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team lost to a higher ranked opponent by the score of 6-1 for the second consecutive day on Saturday, this time to No. 32 San Diego in the consolation round of the 2012 ITA Kickoff Weekend.

Playing a neutral-site match at the Hellman Tennis center on the campus of California, the Lady Rebels fell to 3-2 on the year while the Torerors improved to 1-1.

USD opened the morning by earning the team point in a competitive doubles competition. USD won on courts one and three while Lucia Batta and Manon de Lanlay downed Idl Haciraifoglu and Stephanie Hoffpauir 8-3 at the second spot.

In singles, UNLV got its lone point from 121st-ranked Batta at the top of the lineup. The sophomore standout improved to 5-0 in dual matches this season with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Hoffpauir.

The Lady Rebels now have some time off before opening a 10-match homestand on Feb. 17 vs. Utah State.
