PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - Aleksandra Josifoska turned in a perfect record during the first day of qualifying at the 2012 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships Tuesday.

Playing at the Riviera Country Club, the junior won both of her singles matches to move into Wednesday's third round. She first earned a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory over DePaul's Jasmine Kling and then rallied past Lauren Herring of Georgia in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Senior Nives Pavlovic, meanwhile, dropped her first-round match in three sets to USC's Kaitlyn Christian, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, and then also lost her consolation match to finish the night, 7-6, 6-1.

In doubles play, however, the fifth-seeded Josifoska and Pavlovic are also still alive. In their opening match they faced Caroline Price and Whitney Kay, a duo from North Carolina that had won their way through prequalifying with three victories over the weekend. UNLV outlasted the UNC team 9-7 to advance to Wednesday when it will face Tennessee's Brynn Boren and Kata Szelky. The winner of that match will play once more Wednesday to earn a spot in the elite event's main draw, which begins Thursday.
