Josifoska Stuns Nation's No. 12 Player

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - Aleksandra Josifoska, ranked 89th in the nation, won two matches Friday, including upsetting the 12th-ranked player in the nation, at the 2012 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.

Playing in the morning round of the consolation draw at the Riviera Country Club, the junior bolted past No. 12 Katie Turvy of Northwestern, 6-2, 6-3. Josifoska then came back out in the afternoon and fought off Whitney Kay of North Carolina, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5.

She will now face the top seed at the event, fourth-ranked Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar of Texas A&M, Saturday at noon PT.

UNLV's other representative at the elite event, 43rd-ranked Lucia Batta, lost in the morning round, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, to No. 17 Cristina Stancu of Texas A&M.
