LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV running back Bradley Randle (Murrieta, Calif.) is skipping his senior season to make himself available for the 2013 NFL Draft on April 25-27.
Randle is one of a record-high 73 names on the final list of early-entries that the NFL released Saturday. Each player has met the league's three-year eligibility rule and has submitted a written application in which he renounced his remaining college football eligibility.
While backing up starter Tim Cornett, Randle (5-7, 190) led the Rebels in touchdowns in 2012 with nine. Last season he ran for a career-high 635 net yards and caught eight passes for 80 yards. His first and only 100-yard rushing day as a collegian came in a win over New Mexico on Nov. 3, 2012, when he finished with 113 yards on 12 carries, two of which went for touchdowns. Cornett and Randle earned UNLV Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors after the season.
"I'm looking forward to graduating this semester and going to the next level," Randle said. "I want to thank the UNLV fans. I had a lot of fun. Go Rebels!"
The graduate of Vista Murrieta High School finished with 1,233 career rushing yards and becomes the third UNLV football player in history to leave early for the NFL Draft. Defensive back Eric Wright was the first in 2007 and was drafted in the second round by the Cleveland Browns. Wright, who is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, just completed his sixth NFL season. One year later, defensive lineman Jeremy Geathers gave up his final year of eligibility but went undrafted in 2008. Geathers, who signed a free-agent contract with the New Orleans Saints, has not played in the NFL but has appeared on rosters in both the Canadian Football League and Arena Football League.
