LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Denys Pume capped off a long but successful week by winning the consolation singles championship as part of Sunday's final day at the 2013 USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Regional Championships, which were being held at the Darling Tennis Center.
Pume, a junior transfer from Oklahoma State, eased by Denver's Alex Clinkenbeard 6-4, 6-2 to win the title and finish the event with seven wins in eight outings.
"It was impressive to see Denys win six in a row in the consolation bracket (after his second-round loss in the main draw) against tough opponents," UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said. "Overall, it was a good tournament for the Rebels."
Next up, UNLV closes its fall schedule by hosting the Larry Easley Memorial Class from Nov. 1-3 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
