LAS VEGAS (AP) - Roscoe Smith and Khem Birch both had double-doubles Friday night to lead UNLV to a 67-48 win over Portland State in their season opener.

Smith scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Runnin' Rebels and Birch finished with 13 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.

Kevin Olekaibe, who finished with 14 points, hit the first 3-pointer 1:18 into the game to push UNLV's NCAA-record streak to 876 games with at least one 3-pointer. Olekaibe transferred to UNLV from Fresno State last spring to be closer to his father, who is in hospice care, and was granted a waiver earlier this week by the NCAA to play immediately.

Tim Douglas led the Vikings with 18 points. Brandon Cataldo finished with 10 rebounds and nine points.

Portland State struggled from behind the arc, finishing 0 for 7.
