Representatives of the Lady Rebels made their annual summer trip to the City of Henderson Youth Summer Basketball League on July 25. Sophomore Amie Callaway and freshmen Jazmyne Bartee and Diamond Major surprised both under-10 girls basketball teams prior to the start of the last game of their season. In order to help both teams warm-up, Bartee, Callaway and Major played a full-court pick-up game with members of the "Lady Rebels," before guiding the "Tough Cookies" through lay-up and shooting drills. All three Lady Rebels then became honorary assistant coaches as Callaway and Major helped with the "Tough Cookies," and Bartee joined UNLV Alums Sean Watkins, championship member of the 1990 Runnin' Rebels team, and proud supporter of the program, Phil Thompson, to coach the "Lady Rebels."

During the game, the student-athletes were allowed to sit on the team benches, helped with some fundamental skills while encouraging their athletes and exemplifying good sportsmanship. The coaches and parents for both teams were very excited and appreciative for the surprise visit. The UNLV Women's Basketball program looks forward to continuing the developing relationship with the City of Henderson.
