FULLERTON, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie the game, but Cal State Fullerton's Garrett Losee completed a hat trick to lead the host team to a 3-2 victory in men's college soccer exhibition action on Thursday night at Titan Stadium.
The Titans jumped out to a 2-0 lead with scores from Losee in the 11th and 23rd minute. Senior Joaquin Rivas got UNLV on the scoreboard in the 26th minute after heading in a cross from freshman Kevin Partida, and the Rebels would go into halftime down 2-1. The tying score came in the 53rd minute, when a shot by Salvador Bernal was deflected out and Partida knocked in the ball to the left corner of the goal to make it a 2-2 contest. Losee would finish the scoring in the 78th minute when he tapped in the ball off assists from Mark Vasquez and Colin Okirie.
UNLV held a slight 7-6 edge on shots in the first half, but Fullerton would hold a 20-12 edge for the game. Corner kicks were 4-3 in favor of the Rebels. Senior Joe Vitale made two saves in the net for UNLV, while Titans' goalkeeper Bryan Escalte finished with three.
The Rebels will play one more exhibition contest, against Cal Baptist on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 6 pm.
