Rebels Set To Start Fall Camp

Sept. 25, 2013

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV baseball team will begin Fall Camp on Thursday as the Rebels return to Earl E. Wilson Stadium for practices, intrasquad scrimmages and two exhibition games.

"It's exciting to get back to work," head coach Tim Chambers said. "We had a good season last year, but we didn't reach all of our goals. The work we put in now will pay dividends this season so it is important for us to get going. We have some great kids on our team and they are ready to hit the field."

Highlighting the Rebels' fall schedule are two exhibition games against Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 19-20. The first game against the Titans will start at 12:00 p.m. and the second game will start at 1:00 p.m. This is the second consecutive year that UNLV has hosted Cal State Fullerton and the Rebels will also play them once during the regular season in Fullerton, Calif.

"We have said all along that we want to play tough teams," Chambers said. "Fullerton has been a perennial powerhouse and facing them this fall will be a good measuring tool for our guys heading into the year."

The team will practice Tuesday through Thursday each week and will hold intrasquad scrimmages every Friday and Saturday. The final workout is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Nov. 9. All practices and scrimmages will be open to the public and fans are encouraged to attend. Each practice and scrimmage is slated to start at 9:00 am.

The Rebels will also hold an alumni golf outing to coincide with the Homecoming football game on Friday, November 1. The event will take place at the Red Rock Arroyo Golf Club at 11:30 a.m. with a reception to follow.

This marks the fourth season for coach Chambers and staff. They welcome back a squad that features 17 returning lettermen and 20 returners overall, while also adding 18 newcomers to the fold.
