Oct. 12, 2014 AUSTIN, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) - No. 11 UNLV women's golf leads the Betsy Rawls Invitational field after the first round. The Rebels turned in a 4-under-par 284 at the par-72, 6,225-yard University of Texas Golf Club on Sunday.
UNLV holds a two-stroke lead over SMU who sits at 2-under 286 and a four-stroke lead over Baylor who turned in a first round score of even-par 288. Host Texas, Tulane and Iowa State are tied for fourth at 3-over 291.
Two Rebels sit in the top-five after the first round as senior Dana Finkelstein is fourth after turning in a score of 5-under 67, while freshman Harley Dubsky carded a 3-under 69 and is tied for fifth.
Baylor's Hayley Davis and Iowa State's Chonlada Chayanun lead all individuals at 7-under 65. SMU's Alexandra Rossi is third at 6-under 66, one shot ahead of Finkelstein. Dubksy is tied with Indiana's Elizabeth Tong and Texas' Bertine Strauss.
Also competing for the Rebels is senior Mayko Chwen Wang, who is tied for 18th at 1-over 73, sophomore Vivian Hsuan Chen is tied for 35th at 3-over 75 and freshman Mackenzie Raim is tied for 42nd at 4-over 76.
The 15 teams and 81 individuals will continue with the second round on Monday and the first group slated to tee off at 6:15 a.m. PT. Raim will start the Rebels' day at 7:45 a.m. PT followed by Chen at 7:54 a.m. PT, Wang at 8:03 a.m. PT, Dubsky 8:12 a.m. PT and Finkelstein at 8:21 a.m. PT.
